We love this Guardian commercial.
𝗦𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲. 𝗦𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹.
The 1986 "Points of View" advert shows the same man, the same moment, from three different angles. A skinhead running down the street. First he looks like he's fleeing. Then like he's attacking. Only the wide shot reveals the truth: 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯'𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.
Same event. Three perspectives. Three completely different stories.
That's the power of journalism. The power of stories. The power of films.
𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. At STORO, we believe this completely.
So why does changing perspective matter for your communication? Here are five reasons.
𝟭. Stories can reveal 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. A new service, a new direction, a new proposition. Something that was previously hidden.
𝟮. Stories can offer 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. They can show a side of humanity, and highlight the problems humanity is facing and your organisation is trying to solve.
𝟯. Stories can offer 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 as a leader, on your business, on your mission. They go through and beyond traditional sales and marketing, and reveal an organisation pulsing with people who are passionate and want to create good.
𝟰. Stories can offer 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 something that has always been communicated the same way. A film with real people instead of a PowerPoint. A lifestyle shoot instead of a headshot. Testimonials instead of a boring animation.
𝟱. And stories can take 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 entirely. Music videos, comedy, art, immersive experiences. You can push the boundaries and tell the story in so many different ways.
Do this, and you reposition your business from a different perspective.
𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁.
This is exactly what we do at STORO. We help organisations find 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦. We start with story strategy, working out where the camera should be pointing. Then we craft what the audience will see: campaigns, films, animations, immersive experiences.
So here's a question: 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄?
If you're curious to explore that, drop us a line. We'd love to help you find it.
